Abstract

Colours have played an important role in people's lives in every epoch and culture. It is not surprising that colours have also had an impact on language. Colours have different symbols. For example, blue symbolises change, grey is often associated with pessimism. Green is linked to nature and earth and yellow is a symbol of energy and warmth. Contrastive research in phraseology has recently become in creasingly more important and topical. Therefore, the aim of the article is to analyse Romanian and German phraseology with an emphasis on colours interpreting the connection between language and colours.
