Abstract
The article deals with a major and ever-present problem of any community – the lie. Being an extremely difficult and complex topic, as seen by the ancients, the lie is an exercise that is not devoid of utility for the spirit and mind, as it gives birth to the love for telling the truth. Approaches from the psychological, linguistic and social perspectives will demonstrate that the lie is an integral part, though unaccepted and dangerous, of our way of being.
