Abstract
This article examines the political and legal character of the European Union by comparing its characteristics with those of a federation and a confederation. Through a comparative analysis of institutional competences, legal principles, and sovereignty mechanisms, the article highlights that th EuropeanUnion integrates features from both models, forming a unique and evolving form of political organization adapted to the diversity of its member states.
