Item Developing critical thinking skills to EFL students: a timely challenge of contemporary labour market [Articol](USARB, 2012) Filipp, SvetlanaThe article focuses on the concept of critical thinking in teaching English as a foreign language. It shows how critical thinking affects the process of education, how it works in our native academic environment and stresses the role and importance of critical thinking skills in a twenty-first-century society, which requires active members able to think critically in order to succeed in the contemporary communication-business-oriented world. We present a definition of intercultural communication competence as the personality ability to establish relationships with representatives from other cultures, to reach mutual understanding with them on the basis of recognition of their cultural values and being tolerant to the differences in their manners of communication, behavior, clothing, lifestyles, traditions, customs, etc. We argue that the formation of intercultural communicative competence in undergraduate and postgraduate education increases the overall culture of a specialist and his\her competitiveness in the international labor market.Item Формирование фонетических навыков на начальном этапе [Articol](USARB, 2011) Помельникова, АннаCommunication is the most important component of any human society. Correct pronunciation is necessary for proper communication because the pronunciation affects the understanding of the meanings of the words. If the sound of a word differs it may lead the listener to incomprehension and provoke a failure of communication. In this aspect, it is very important for a learner to focus on acquiring phonetic skills from the very beginning, basing on knowledge of the phonetic systems of native and foreign languages that helps to avoid mistakes in pronunciation.
