The wetland protection is an important objective for the Republic of Moldova in the context of recognition the green economy as the future economy. Thus the aim of the present study was to evaluate the Index of surface water pollution in the territory of RAMSAR Wetland „Unguri-Holosnita‖, including river Dniester, given the conditions of the Regulation on Environmental Quality requirements for surface waters in the Republic of Moldova, which includes five classes of water quality. Surface water from the RAMSAR Wetland „Unguri-Holosnita‖ has a pollution index of 52 (medium pollution, brook, village Arionesti) to 63% (river, village Unguri, stone bridge). Water from river Dniester on Wetland „Unguri-Holosnita‖ portion has a good state (IPAcc 73-81%), except sample downstream town Otaci, where IPAcc has values of 69% (medium pollution).
