    Colecţia de carte rară în limba engleză include 275 titluri din diverse domenii, editate în Anglia şi SUA. Cel mai cuprizător este domeniul flologic cu studii de lingvistică generală, de evoluţie a limbii engleze, de gramatică şi fonetică cu informaţie teoretică şi exerciţii practice. Impresionează colecţia de dicţionare, atât enciclopedice cât şi explicative. Domeniul beletristicii este constituit din operele scriitorilor de limbă engleză bine cunoscuţi (M. Twain, C. Dickens, R. Kipling, J. London. S. Maugham, W. Shakespeare...), mai puţini cunoscuţi (W. Jacobs, E. Lyall...), cât şi traduceri.     The reference is a complicated process with many steps and strategies to search for information, being required for all types of libraries. However, the unit of measurement in the reference services is also the references. Bibliographic references can be presented in written and oral form. This method is an effective evaluation tool, which results in the improvement of the activity of reference librarians and with advantageous influences on the image in the society or community of the library.

    This article discusses the accomplishment of the mission of reference librarians in informational assistance, guidance, orientation of users in order to provide with traditional informational resources (solving simple problems with the help of encyclopedias and dictionaries, consulting bibliographies for more complicated problems) and providing electronic multi-aspect services in collecting the necessary information, as well as consulting / intermediation in order to involve the user in the process of searching, selecting and finding information, thus contributing to the formation of the Information Literacy.
