    Assessment of Reading Comprehension [Articol]
    (USARB, 2005) Ignatiuc, Iulia
Assessment of reading comprehension is very important in foreign language teaching. It doesn’t only measure student progress in text understanding, but also gives the teacher the possibility to estimate the level of materials appropriate for teaching and helps him determine what modifications of planned interventions are necessary. Besides, it contributes to the evaluation of word-level skills and knowledge. The success depends on how valid the assessment itself is.

Cross-linguistic analysis on the English present perfect and the Romanian perfectul compus [Articol]
    (USARB, 2015) Ignatiuc, Iulia

Current changes in the english verb [Articol]
    (USARB, 2018) Ignatiuc, Iulia
The present article is an overview of essential grammatical changes that have recently occurred in the Modern English verb. The article draws on works by Geoffrey Leech, Christian Mair, Marianne Hundt and Randolph Quirk. Although these changes are referred to as current, some of them started in the first half of the twentieth century. The emphasis in the paper was on the major changes related to the increase in use of continuous forms, decline of be-passive, decrease in the use of some modal verbs and increase in the use of semi-modals, and the revival of the mandative subjunctive. These changes are of particular interest for teachers of English.

The role of grammar in training teachers of English [Articol]
    (USARB, 2012) Ignatiuc, Iulia
The present article attempted to reveal some beliefs about the role of grammar and grammar instruction in teacher training institutions. There are numerous works devoted to the role and place of grammar in foreign language teaching, different techniques and activities that contribute to making the teaching more successful and enjoyable. However the success depends on the teachers’ beliefs and decisions. Teaching practices show that there is no single method that could be called the best in teaching foreign languages. We believe that in teaching foreign languages we should focus on both, form and use as we should integrate the study of language with that of language in use.
