Item Le concept de vertu dans une perspective évolutive [Articol](USARB, 2019) Foghel, Ecaterina; Coşciug, AngelaThe results of the scientific interest in the concept of virtue presents a vast theoretical panorama extended in time and space. In antiquity as well as in the Age of Enlightenment, the notion of virtue is at the center of the concerns of philosophers, writers and artists. Both proponents of experimental rationalism and apologists of revealed religion agree that virtue is the foundation of morality. But beyond this initial statement, long and fierce debates focus on the nature of virtue, on who practices it best and on the role of science and of the Church in the discernment of morality in general, and of its virtuous foundations in particular. This rich theoretical tradition continues, more or less intensively, during the following centuries, and one notes a renewed interest in the notion of virtue after the Second World War when there is a revival of the virtue ethics, in particular of Aristotelian inspiration. This article aims to highlight certain theoretical landmarks in the conceptual perception of virtue at different times, emphasizing the importance of the diachronic approach in this matter. Item The concept of virtue in the 20th century french literature : Summary of the Doctoral Dissertation in Philology. Item Continuitatea și evoluția concepțiilor asupra virtuții [Articol](USARB, 2020) Foghel, EcaterinaStarting from the premise that any human activity is to be anchored in a definite ethical framework, in which virtue is always among the defining concepts, the present article aims to follow at what point various virtue theories developed by scholars belonging to different epochs and areas of study, are ideologically close. The analysis of diverse virtue definitions, classifications and concrete examples become well-known from Aristotle to Alasdair MacIntyre, should discern certain general principles of moral rectitude and means of life goals achievement. The tradition of the Aristotelian ethics and of the Christian moral doctrine, the utilitarian approach of B. Franklin and the virtue of practices developed by MacIntyre, do not exhaustively treat the concept of virtue, that is susceptible to get new traits and avatars in the context of the modern cyberworld.Item Les exotismes dans les contes populaires roumains: perspectives traductologiques et didactiques [Articol](USARB, 2024) Foghel, EcaterinaIdentifying and interpreting exoticisms in translations of roumanian folktales into French language is an interesting lexical, phonetic, stylistic and culturological exercise. Translating the nouns of concepts belonging to a foreign worldview is not an easy task. But motivated preservation of eloquent elements of the source language, either as intact inlays or as lexical units assimilated into the target language, promotes the successful transposition not only of the message of the source text, but also of the spirit and emotion that accompany it in the original version. Studying them separately is a good opportunity to explore and penetrate the national specificity of the Romanian language in terms of expressiveness and translatability.Item La pertinence de la vertu dans la nouvelle Acte de probité de H. Bazin [Articol](USARB, 2019) Foghel, Ecaterina; Coşciug, AngelaAs a novelist interested in morals, passions and authentic values, Hervé Bazin excels in the art of psychological portraits and social paintings of moral ideals. In his short story "Acte de probité ", the author challenges the traditional acceptances of the virtue of probity by basing his story on antithesis and paradox. In this article, we aim to analyze the constitutive elements of the conceptual field of probity, delimiting its dominant and generally accepted elements, fixed in the dictionary definitions, which constitute the conceptual core of this mental unity. On the other hand, we also distinguish the contextual attributes of this same unit which are only manifested in the studied novel, and which make up the peripheral strata of the conceptual sphere considered.Item A synthetic outlook on modern theories on concepts [Articol](USARB, 2017) Foghel, EcaterinaScientific interest towards concepts as basic mental structures reflecting the processes of human cognition of the world and the results of various human activities, has been gaining momentum these last years. The attempts to explain the ontology, the organization and the functional peculiarities of the concepts were extremely numerous and diverse. Reviewing the main theories on the origins of the concept from a linguistic, philosophical, psychological or culturological perspectives, is a necessary stage in constructing a solid theoretical basis for further more specialized reflections on the lexical concept, its structure and the principles of its functioning. Synthetizing statements and theories of scientists belonging to the American and the Russian scientific traditions, we try to present an integrated overview of the modern pluridisciplinary vision of the concept. Item La vertu et l’anti-vertu dans la nouvelle « Légende Poldève » de Marcel Aymé [Articol](USARB, 2019) Foghel, Ecaterina; Coşciug, AngelaTraditional conceptions of virtue are often centered on traits of religious obedience, bigotry and charitable gestures. These characteristics are encouraged and are generally seen positively, being keenly opposed to all that diverges from this quite rigid moral model. In one of his fantasy stories―Légende Poldève, Marcel Aymé makes a parallel between two categorically contrary characters: one totally correct and irreproachable, and the other - a thorough scoundrel and an incorrigible sinner. The author creates a prototype of incarnated virtue, and in order to make it even more convincing, opposes to it an anti-virtue alternative model. Their antagonism that results in a paradoxical denouement, ridicules hypocritical conceptions of virtue and satires exaggerated demonstrations of it.Item Virtue literacy beyond the time [Articol](USARB, 2020) Foghel, EcaterinaAmong universal notions beyond the time, Virtue has been an important directive force in the development of human civilization. The idea of Virtue is located at the center of moral, philosophical, educational and religious discourses that marked the history of thought and determined the modern configuration of ethics. From Socrates and Aristotle to the French moralists, from Machiavelli to Elizabeth Anscombe and Alasdair McIntire, Virtue accumulated a rich spectrum of facets that constitute together the complex modern paradigm of this generic concept.
