Cyclic groups represent a fundamental concept in group theory in mathematics. A cyclic group is a group that can be generated by a single element, called a generator. The elements of a cyclic group are powers of the generator and their inverses. Cyclic groups are always abelian, meaning they are commutative. Each cyclic group is isomorphic to one of the groups of integers modulo n, where n is a positive natural number. Thus, the study of cyclic groups is essential in understanding the structure and properties of groups in general.
