    This article contains the results of the scientific research regarding the particularities of the physical-geographical study of the local horizon, especially the research methods and didactic activities for studying the geography of the native land.     This scientific article reflects practical ways of implementing different didactic tools in geography classes (geographic maps, geographic atlases, mineral and rock collections, grasslands with plants from the local flora, contour maps). The efficiency of the use of teaching aids in geography lessons is conditioned by the experience of the teaching staff, by his skill in choosing and capitalizing at the right time those means that best serve the objectives he pursues.
